Quality Improvement Through Accreditation*
This workshop provides the basic concept and steps for agency accreditation. The three-day class focuses on quality improvement and explains the six building blocks of accreditation: community risk assessment, goals and objectives, standards of cover, benchmark and baseline standards, strategic planning, and self-assessment.
This webinar consists of two 2-hour lectures that includes interactive Q&A, homework assignments, and a final exam. It familiarizes students with the logistics of a site visit as well as expectations of peer assessment when they are assigned to a team. Led by experienced peer assessors, this course provides the foundation for peer assessment.
Nurturing Fire Service Leaders Through Mentoring
Fire service leadership has a fundamental responsibility to build and refine the next generation of fire service leaders. With the massive number of retirements in recent years, succession planning and leader development is one of the greatest challenges facing the fire service today. This essential workshop teaches department leaders how to shape and mentor the future leaders of their agency.
Exceeding Customer Expectations
In recent times, significant shifts in the demand for fire services have occured. In addition, expectations of elected officials and the general public have increased. Fire service organziations must be positioned to address the challenges by exceeding customer expectations in the future in order to sustain their organization. This workshop addresses customer service from the point of view of the Fire Service Agency. It covers the skills and knowledge necessary for fire service staff at all levels of the organization to understand methods and gain ownership for exceeding their customers' expectations.
